We are pleased to share that two of our registered physiotherapists, Chantal Mageau-Pinard and Hilary Veenstra, are licensed assessors for the Assistive Devices Program (ADP) through the Government of Ontario. This designation allows them to complete ADP assessments for mobility aids, including walkers and wheelchairs, helping eligible Ontario residents access government funding for essential equipment.
What Is the Assistive Devices Program (ADP)?
The Assistive Devices Program (ADP) is a Government of Ontario initiative that provides financial assistance to help cover the cost of assistive devices for people with long-term physical disabilities. For mobility devices such as walkers and wheelchairs, ADP may cover up to 75% of the approved cost, with the remaining portion typically paid by the client or a secondary insurer, if available.
To access ADP funding, individuals must be assessed by a registered health professional who is authorized by ADP—such as a licensed physiotherapist assessor.
Expertise You Can Trust
As ADP-authorized assessors, Chantal Mageau-Pinard and Hilary Veenstra are specially trained to:
- • Complete comprehensive mobility assessments
- Determine eligibility for ADP funding
- Recommend the most appropriate walker or wheelchair based on medical need, functional ability, and lifestyle
- Complete and submit the required ADP documentation accurately and efficiently
- Collaborate with equipment vendors to ensure proper fitting and device selection
Their clinical expertise ensures that clients receive not only the correct equipment, but also guidance that prioritizes safety, independence, and quality of life.
Why an ADP Assessment Matters
Choosing the right mobility aid is not one-size-fits-all. An ADP assessment considers factors such as strength, balance, endurance, posture, home environment, and daily activities. Working with an ADP-authorized physiotherapist helps ensure that:
- The recommended device truly meets your mobility needs
- Funding applications are completed correctly, reducing delays
- Equipment is properly sized and configured
- Long-term comfort and function are prioritized
